Finding a Post Office
The Postal Service of the Velocity Interoperability Network operates a post office and a counter at each of the six principal sites of the Network. Post offices provide every service of the Service, including insured and registered mail, post office boxes and applications for redirection and holding. Counters, at a second location on each site, accept letters and small parcels, sell postage and, at four of them, hold items for collection.
All offices and counters open on Monday 7 September 2026

Post boxes. The Service maintains 84 post boxes across the Network: at least twelve at each principal site and one at every other site with ten or more delivery points. Every box carries a plate showing its number, its collection times and the nearest post office. Boxes at the principal sites are emptied twice each working day, at 12:00 and 17:00; all other boxes are emptied once, at 16:00. The collection times are set out on the Delivery Standards and Tracking page.
Choosing an office. The steps below will help you find the right office or counter for what you need to do.
Step 1: Decide what you need to do
Buying postage, posting a letter or a small parcel, or collecting a held item can be done at any counter. Insured or registered items, parcels over 2 kilograms, post office boxes, and applications for redirection or holding require a full post office.
Step 2: Find the office nearest your site
Each of the six principal sites has a post office and a counter. The register above gives the location of each within the site. Sites without an office of their own are served by the post office at the nearest principal site, and by the post boxes on the site.
Step 3: Check the opening hours
Post offices open on weekdays and, at Central Exchange, Northgate and Southbank, on Saturday mornings. Counters keep shorter or different hours; the Central Exchange Concourse Counter opens longest. An item handed in after the last collection time is treated as posted on the next working day.
Step 4: Bring what the counter will need
For an item to be posted, bring it packed and addressed; postage and packaging are sold at the counter. To collect a held item, bring the card left by the delivery officer and identification. To open a post office box or apply for redirection, bring identification and proof of the address concerned.
Step 5: Write to the Service if you are unsure
If you cannot find an office that provides the service you need, or the register appears to be wrong, write to the Service. Enquiries are answered within two working days.
Enquiries about the register, including errors in an office's entry, may be sent to contact@postal.gov.vin.
